About I R Polytechnic

I R Polytechnic was established by dedicated effort of the most eminent International Civil Engineer Late Dr. BK Ramaiah. Dr. BK Ramaiah who retired after serving the University Visvesvaraya Engineering College, as principal proposed to start a production engineering and job oriented polytechnic in the premises No. 195, Peenya 3rd phase, Bangalore- 58, with sole object of deporting technical education to the students who have passed the S.S.L.C examination having the request eligibility to enter Polytechnic, so that the students who got through the technical examination may stand on their own feet and start small scale industries of their own. With this object in view Dr.BK Ramaiah proposed to start the above Polytechnic in the year 1985- 86. The above Polytechnic is being managed by Indiramma A.M. and Dr BK Ramaiah educational endowment trust charities 774, 5th block, Rajajinagar, Bangalore 560010. The polytechnic is being financed by the Indian Testing and Engineering Corporation-partnership registered in the year 1975. The Government of Karnataka has accorded permission vide Order No. ED.39, MPI 86 dated 18-4-1996 to India Testing and Engineering Corporation and Indiramma A.M. and BK Ramaiah endowment Educational Trust Charity to start a Polytechnic under the name of IR Polytechnic. IR Polytechnic is affiliated to Board of Technical Education, Government of Karnataka under recognised by All India Council for Technical Education-New Delhi. The management having realised the imbalance in the technical skill among trained personnel in the field of Industrial Production engineering and industrial skill among educated young persons, proposed this institution with the object of imparting production and job oriented course leading to 3 year diploma.
